Speaker Stands

Speaker Stand Recommendations;
Lifting any speaker off the floor will will obviously improve sound projection reaching a larger audience for the same level of sound. If the speakers are for a portable system then folding tripod speaker stands are probably the best option. This type of stand folds down easily and will support most speakers up to 15 inches, ideal for DJ or mobile entertainer use. When fitting larger speaker cabinets to a stand a degree of sense is required, if it feels unsteady then abandon the idea and think of another safer solution.  Many of the speaker stands we supply will advise of the Max load weight, it is important to follow this advice.

The other solution for larger speaker set-up's could be fitting the mid-top cabinet directly to the bass cabinet. Most bass cabinets have a hole for a 35mm pole on the top face of the cabinet, you can then use a fixed or adjustable speaker pole to elevate the mid-top cabinet.

With all large audio set-ups, keep safety in mind and try to keep stands and speakers well way from the audience. You can use hydraulic assisted stands to help elevate the speakers and this is especially useful for the larger cabinets and if you are working solo. With the same thing in mind, winch-up stands can also be a big help in taking the strain at setup time.

If there is no danger of the speaker being touched, then smaller styles can be placed on monitor stands that just have a flat surface on the top. This is often the preference for studio instillation's and so on.

Adaptors:
35mm Is the commonest size adaptor for speakers, but like everything there are exceptions, 32mm can sometimes be used and where the spacing pole, mentioned above, is used then a large 16mm threaded insert is a fairly common style. Needless to say its best to check the hole size in your cabinet before purchasing speaker stands.

Speaker Wall Brackets:
The options for fixing speakers to the wall are numerous, but generally come down to two or three styles of bracket or swivel bracket. Some styles will fit in the bottom of the cabinet, using the 35mm hole, common in most cabinets. The alternative is a “U” shaped bracket, these are usually cabinet specific, although often supplied separately. Pick something that will allow you to angle the speakers in the direction you need, pointing the speakers over the audience heads wont necessarily give the best results!
