Power Amplifiers
Power amplifiers are critical in delivering high-performance audio for any application requiring a professional PA system and can be used in many other applications such as home entertainment systems, professional AV installations and sound reinforcement. They are available in various power ratings and configurations, making them suitable for any size venue or application. The types found in this section are suitable for driving 4 to 8 ohm speakers
Power Amplifier Class Types
Power Amplifiers are available in both Class AB and Class D configurations and the most suitable type should be selected based on the application requirements.
- Class D power amplifiers are now the most popular for normal high-power requirements and are much lighter than the more traditional Class AB power amplifiers. They use rapid switching technology to convert input signals into a series of pulses, which are then filtered to produce an amplified audio signal.
- Class AB power amplifiers combine features of both Class A and Class B amplifiers, operating with both transistors conducting slightly at zero signal to reduce distortion while improving efficiency
Power Amplifiers provide a reliable method for delivering quality audio to speakers, allowing sound and tech professionals to create powerful PA systems. If you need more information check our power amplifiers on our technical help pages, or email support@terralec.com
