1 Channel DMX
Rapid improvements in LED effects lighting have made these the only choice for most users. Controlling these lights has become more something of a challenge, as switch packs often fail to work correctly with this kind of fixture. Quite often the load that the LED light presents is not enough to stop mains leakage on the packs internal components. You may also find that your lights flash when the channel they are on, is not switched on. Most effects lights use a number of DMX channels to control them, this is not a problem if you are an experienced DMX user or if you have the time to create programmes of your own, but some users do find it problematic and time consuming, and require a straight forward approach to controlling such lights.
This is where JB Systems have come up with a good solution! A high percentage of JB Systems effects lights now come with a 1 channel DMX mode, which allows you to turn the lights on and off with one slider from a DMX controller. This allows the light to run its built-in sound to light programmes, which are quite often better than the ones you can create yourself. In addition this form of control gives you the option to turn the LED light output on and off instantly.Some JB Systems lights give you the option to change different programmes with 1 channel DMX, as well as the on-off capability. In our opinion, one channel DMX is the way forward to control your LED lights easily and quickly. In essence, it allows you to buy 8 effects lights and use one 8 channel DMX controller to control all of them. It really is as easy as pushing one slider up and down for each light, giving you a straight forward lighting & control solution.
This system also makes cabling easier, there is no need to run multiple mains cables up your lighting bridge or deck stand. All you need to do is run one DMX cable to the first light and daisy chain the rest, then run one mains cable to the first light. If they have IEC in and out sockets, you can link the mains with IEC to IEC cables (as long as you are not using large amounts of LED lights).
This JB Systems idea is ideal for mobile DJ's, bar and blub installations. Please look at kits SLS-010 and SLS-011 as a reference, as these use the 1 channel DMX module to control each light.
