VHF radio mic - Audio equipment accessories
Our selection of VHF radio mics and accessories are sure to provide your perfect audio equipment solution.
VHF Radio Microphones are an affordable and accessible option to many stage, theatre and entertainment companies. They are a popular choice for amateur and semi-pro users because the products themselves are usually less expensive than UHF versions and in addition they offer a good selection of frequencies that can be freely used. Whether you are searching for a VHF radio mic, a specialist vocal mic or a wireless microphone, we have a selection of audio microphones, radio mic cases and radio mic leads which are sure to suit every budget.
While VHF radio microphones are a popular choice, it is fair to say that as a general rule there is more traffic in the VHF frequency so interference can be more common. Following are some useful tips to ensure you get the best from your VHF Wireless Microphone System.
*For general speech work, most types of Radio Mic will work well if the Microphone and receiver are reasonably close together. Say 10 meters.
*Many wireless microphones will work effectively up to a range of 30 or more meters. The reliability reduces in buildings, especially where walls often hide metal reinforcement.
*Use a dual diversity type if you are on the move, in a building, or not in direct line to the receiver. Steel in building walls will affect reception.
*Use the high quality headband mics for aerobics teaching. Drop-outs are less of an issue here, but reliability under extreme conditions is obviously important.
Our radio microphone systems include hand held radio microphones to cancel out any interference and to provide sound quality and portability. Certain hand transmitters allow USB computer monitoring, easy programming and frequency scanning. VHF Radio Microphone Licensing:
All the VHF radio microphones within this section can be used without a license. They will operate in the licence free bands VHF 173.8 - 175.0 MHz. If you wish to use large numbers of wireless microphones you will need to use channels outside of the unlicensed band and therefore you would need to apply for a license.
The licensing process is simple and is controlled in the UK by JFMG Ltd. They will ensure that the correct frequencies are chosen, so as not to clash will other local users (adjacent schools and theatres etc). Other frequencies and options are available for fixed or special installations. You can contact JFMG Ltd or visit their Website for detailed assistance with any licensing enquiry or to obtain a license application form.

Channel 38 Information:
In December 2009, Ofcom announced some changes to its licensing arrangements for wireless microphones. Wireless microphone users currently have exclusive use of one dedicated channel - channel 69, which will be cleared in 2012 to allow for new uses. To safeguard the future interests of wireless microphone users, Ofcom announced that there would be a replacement channel - channel 38, which will offer the same utility as channel 69. Channel 38 is already widely available in the UK although some areas will not be fully accessible until 2012. For more information regarding channel 38, please visit the "New License Information" on Ofcoms website. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to discuss how the changes will affect you.
